ACTA-DIRECT Dataset
The ACTA - Diagnostic Insights for Radiographic Early-caries with micro-CT (ACTA-DIRECT) dataset comprises radiological images and proximal initial caries lesion annotations from a collection of 179 extracted dental samples. This dataset includes only molar and premolar teeth that are either in a healthy state or show signs of beginning stage caries near the proximal surfaces. Any teeth that have undergone dental restorative procedures are deliberately omitted from the collection. For each of the 179 extracted teeth included in the ACTA-DIRECT Dataset, the following are provided: 1. A micro-CT scan image. 2. A conventional radiograph, taken with the tooth's buccal surface facing the x-ray machine's tube. 3. One file with annotations of initial proximal caries lesions from the micro-CT scan, serving as the reference standard. 4. Three separate files with conventional annotations of initial proximal caries lesions on the standard radiographs. 5. Three separate files with annotations of initial proximal caries lesions on the standard radiographs, enhanced by micro-CT scan references. Each set of annotations for items 4 and 5 has been individually created by three different experts.
